When I confessed I gave up chocolate for two-and-a-half years, I didn't mention that my abstinence totally changed the way I consume chocolate. That is, I can't eat it straight. This baffles my husband, who considers a handful of chocolate chips as dessert. To me, eating plain chocolate is like taking a shot of Jack and letting it swirl around your tongue for five minutes before you get around to swallowing it. It's just too much, too intense, too startlingly pure.
So when BlogHer and M&M's Premiums contacted me to review their new candies, I knew two things: One, despite my distaste for plain chocolate, I love regular M&M's. The outer shell is just crunchy enough to break up the plain chocolate, and I figured if I liked the fancy version as much as the original, it would totally be worth the taste-test (they didn't exactly have to twist my arm, you see). Two, when I received the box full of all the new M&M's Premiums flavors, I realized that my taste buds were in a heap of trouble, and I better employ the help of several friends (it pays (in morsels of chocolate) to be my friend).
And, since I consider you my friend, I'm giving away even more M&M's Premiums to a lucky winner. All you have to do is answer one simple question.
You see, these candies – besides being so pretty it almost hurts to eat them (hey! I said almost), what with their iridescent shine and jewel-toned coloring – have personality to spare. So I packed up my candies, grabbed my video camera and headed out to see if others agreed. It turned out they did agree, and that they each had favorites among the new flavors. Let's hear what else they had to say, particularly about M&M's trademarked candy shell:

Which M am I?
Personally, my favorite was the mocha. But if you read this site regularly at all, I'm guessing you already knew that. Mocha is the flavor I munch on when I'm reading a book and needing a snack. It's the flavor I snack on by the heat of the fireplace. And I imagine that this summer the Mocha M&M's will replace the espresso beans I typically pop in my mouth when hiking. They're perfect, both subtle and flavorful at the same time and – should I admit this? – they're partially my favorite because I love the marbled coppery color. I kind of wish I could tile my bathroom in them, though I suspect I'd regret that decision the first time I turned on the steamy shower.
So, what about you?

They all sound grand, but I have to admit a weakness for white chocolate, even though it is the least chocolate of them all. I love the creamy, simple sweetness of it, and adding raspberry and almond to the mix sounds fabulous. And there's this too: I live in Portland, OR, and work for a non-profit in sustainability, so it's reasonable to expect that I wear lots of jeans and cargoes, boots, and always have a hat jammed on my head, making for a pretty non-girly girl. Which is mostly true - but I. love. pink.

Being borderline diabetic, I count out any chocolate VERY CAREFULLY!! I know I am allowed nuts so I choose the chocolate almonds. I can sit back and ENJOY!!

I'm going to have to go with Mint. I love chocolate with a touch of mint - in fact my husband and I have both been mainlining Thin Mints this week (thanks to the evil little pushers wearining green uniforms). Also, the Green M&M wears high heels - what more could you want?

I feel that all chocolate must be supported and therefore I feel that I am a Triple Chocolate. I mean, I love milk chocolate. He's smooth, very sweet, and quite popular, too. But if all I ever ate was milk chocolate, then poor white chocolate over there in the corner might feel saddened a tiny bit. Well, she is quite shy at times, but once I taste her she comes out of her shell and is the life of the party with her creamy sweetness. I can see it now, though: milk chocolate would be raging jealous if I only ever ate white chocolate. Meanwhile, dark chocolate is just "eh, whatever", but I think he's okay being somewhat of a loner. He's tough and mature about it. Just to make him feel like he's included, though, I'll make sure to eat some of him once in awhile too. After all, he is full of antioxidants which are very good for you, plus he's different from the others, unlike that bratty milk chocolate kid over there. So, all in all, I'd go with the Triple Chocolate. That way, everybody's happy. Including me.

I am not sure which M&M flavor I would be.... anyone who knows me, and i know you know me, would know that i am not a person easily classified or labeled.
i am quirky and original, emotional and honest, at times bitchy and irrational.... all in all, things every woman needs in her chocolate treat!!
you need a treat to match your mood.... sometimes elegant, other times exotic, even still at times frumpy and occasionally just plain!!!
i like the sound of mocha.... yummy, traditional and a little kicky!! just the way i like my girl friends.... well, except for the yummy!!!

I am most definately the triple chocolate. Mainly because it depends on the mood I am in any given day. I can dress up cute and sophisticated, dress it down and sporty, or just be comfortable and casual.
And, also, my business partner brought a box of the triple chocolate to work one day, and it did not take long to DEVOUR them! Yum!

I'm a chocolate mint girl! There is just something decadent about the whole mint/chocolate mix. I think it may go back to the days when the chocolate/mint candies were given out at only really fine dining spots after dinner...When I was there with my parents that made me feel so grownup! Holding on to a little piece of my childhood, even 50 years later!

Oh I would have to say I am a chocolate mint girl. Not only do I love brown and green together, but I love the simple burst of mint that hits the taste buds mixed with my utter favorite of all time food "chocolate"...mmmm. Just the other day I dipped some beatiful big sweet strawberries in this gourmet chocolate melted in a pot with a bit of heavy cream. Yes, very delightful!

I am definitely Chocolate Mint. I love eating sweets and still having my mouth feel fresh and clean at the same time. That's probably why my favorite brand of gum is Orbit. Even their bubble gum is minty. :)

At this moment, though, I think I'd be the triple chocolate, after our ice storm and several days in the house with the kids, no electricity (I'm coming to you courtesy of a big diesel-powered generator), and a cranky hubby (because 3 inches of ice on everything means he has to work harder), I need every layer of chocolate I can get!

I really love Raspberry Almond. The tartness of raspberry with the sweetness of the chocolate is the ultimate mix! I just had my 4th and final child and I'm trying to get my stomach flat again but I've learned that you have to give in here and there or you will end up eating a whole 1lb bag of M&Ms. So indulging here and there is okay and I would love to win this gift!

I definately, without a doubt would be the Raspberry Almond. I absolutely love raspberry anything and white chocolate. To me, is just dreamy. It melts in your mouth like no other candy made and the combination of it and raspberry makes me think...ROMANCE. I am very new to this romance thing, and getting older has made me want to be more romantic and look for it more in my relationship with my husband. So with that being said...I think it would be a perfect valentine prize or as a simple dessert on date night with my husband with a nice bottle of wine, sitting in front of the fire.

Definitely feisty, definitely mint chocolate.
I've tried them (okay, I have a bit of an addiction to them actually) & my favorite is the mint chocolate, with mocha a close 2nd.
My hubby discovered that by adding a few of the mc M&M's to a blender full of ice & coffee, the taste is almost identical to one of my most favorite drinks (Starbucks Mint Chocolate Chip Frap)!

I'd have to say that I am the feisty minty green chocolate flavor. I love the refreshing coolness of the mint mixed with the sweet white chocolate with the hint of bitterness from the dark chocolate. The green color of these babies is soooo pretty!

I'd be a rich and yummy triple chocolate. This candy has three different chocolate, white which is very sweet, Dark which is intense and not as sweet, and milk chocolate which is creamy and sweet, but not as sweet as the white. Like the tiple chocolate, I can demonstrate all three of these chcolate traits in my personality. I can be really sweet, bittersweet, or just plain ol' me. Its a pretty purple color but thats just a bonus if you're using it to describe me!

Definitely mint would be my favorite. I melt mint chocolate chips and pour them over Oreos or shortbread; I put mint chocolate chips (or mint extract and chocolate chips) in brownies; I am very, very fond of the mint/chocolate combination.
Whether I am FIESTY? You would have to ask witnesses. Certainly I show attitude if you try to take sweets away from me, but I would call that something more like, "OMG NO YOU DIN-NINT!"

Call me a Triple Chocoholic all the way. Chocolate is an addiction I have no need to cure. I'm in love with any kind of chocolate and my kids know chocolate keeps them alive during certain times of the month.
Beyond that, they come in the Purplicious bag with the fantastic purple swirl. I'm a Purple Girl--hence the Lavendar & Orchid (light and dark purple to the purple challenged) wedding extravaganza.
Purple and three kinds of chocolate all in one bag with the M&M name on it--how can a girl go wrong?!?

I wanted to day that I'm Triple Chocolate because it just sounds so good, and I'm a complex person and stuff. But if I'm honest with myself, I'm definitely the Raspberry Almond. Girly and pink, maybe a little frivolous, but most importantly - nutty.

You want me to choose? Hellooooo!?! My taste for chocolate depends on the moment! For example, after a meal ladened with garlic, I would instantly reach for a few mint M & M's to cleanse the palate and spare my friends a malodorous goodbye hug and kiss. And I agree with the video...chocolate almond mixed in my popcorn for the perfect movie snack! They need to sell them in variety packs so I can have whatever kind I need ready and availble when the chocolate cravings hit!

I tend to be a bit obsessive when I find things I love. Some might think that I go overboard, harp on them, take them to the extreme. But how can you really have too much of a good thing? I'm chocolate almond! My perfect evening is getting together with some friends and enjoying homemade hors d'oeurvs. These pretty little M&M's would certainly make a nice addition!

I am SO raspberry almond - I picked up them and the triple chocolate for Christmas and the description of the raspberry almond was right on the money- flirty and yummy. It was an absolute party for the mouth!!!

I haven't tried the M&M's Premiums yet, but the chocolate almond ones sound yummy. I'm a sweet/nutty person so these would fit my personality

Being a chocolate maven, I thought 'ooh, triple choc' at first... But then with a big coffee habit on my back, the Mocha sounds like the biggest winner for me. Besides, my husband would sneak into the 3-chocolate (('d have to hide it). He doesn't like MOCHA (my favorite flavor) and would stay out of my stash.

I am hands down Mocha! I've been a coffee drinker since I was a small child as my Grandmother would sit and drink coffee in the morning and I insisted on doing the same, it was more 3/4 milk to 1/4 coffee. I spend so much time at bookstores and the library that they know me by name!

Definitely mocha as I love coffee as much as I love chocolate. The coffee fixation comes from years of being a Registered Nurse working midnights. I think I was born with the chocolate passion!
