Keepin' It Fresh
January 19, 2009
Over the past several months, I've developed somewhat of an addiction. Every time I visit a drugstore, the grocery store, a Wal-Mart or Target, I look for a certain product. A product that is totally unassuming, and not at all glamorous, but that I love: Lever 2000 Energize.
I love it because the packaging is a bright, metallic, eye-popping orange. I love it because it smells good. I love how clean I smell when I use it. So you can imagine how dismayed I was when I realized it had been discontinued. Dismayed enough to visit eBay.
And I'd like to say that I could just leave it at that, but I can't. Because last week, I found and bought every bar for auction. Yes, that's right. 48 bars. And today I discovered that the same seller has MORE bars for sale. Despite the fact that I have an army's supply, I'm tempted to buy them. All of them. Still, I'm a little concerned: what happens when I run out? By then I'll need to find a new soap, and if I were being honest, I'd tell you I'm a little afraid. There's nothing worse than soap-testing, because dude. That's your body. And your cleanliness. It affects your armpits.

So I figure I might as well start collecting data now: what soap do you use? And does it have pretty, shiny packaging? Because packaging is important too, you know.

I don't have a favorite soap but I found ONE bottle of this conditioner that I loved AND NOW I CAN'T FIND IT ANYWHERE! It's a Tres Semme purple bottle called "anti sponge" and it's the only thing that make my split ends lay flat. I had a feeling when I picked it up because there were only two bottles, and now I'm heartbroken.
I'll send you orange soap if I see it, if you send me purple hair conditioner.

Oh dear, you are SO going to hate my answer because I use, uh, whatever's on sale that day. I figure it all gets you clean in the end. It has never even occurred to me to question this practice! If I discovered somehow that a particular soap wasn't doing the trick, you know, odor-wise... I would replace it immediately, but I've always thought that finding the right deodorant/anti-perspirant was a much more important factor than the soap brand.

Well, i USED to use Lever 2000 Energize until SOMEONE bought all that there was on ebay.
nah..I use Dial - the gold stuff..because I love how clean it smells and how clean I smell after I use it. Am addicted to it..and I think it's a men's soap. Oh well! It's mine now!
and I am SUCH the sucker for packaging, except for soap. But now I want to try your soap. Care to share?

So now I'm dying to know what it smells like, but of course I would probably never be able to find a bar...

I now have this burning need to FIND this wonder-soap you speak of, but I don't want to lest I love its discontinued self. Thanks a lot.

Dude, you crack me up. haha :)
I did the same thing but with lotion from Bath and Body Works. I am in love with Freesia and about three years ago, they discontinued it. I went on Ebay and purchased so many bottles that I still have FULL bottles under my cabinet.. because like you said, "what happens when I run out?"
I use Dove products for like... everything. Hairspray, moisturizing lotion, frizz control, shampoo/condition, deodorant... and I also use their bar soaps and body wash. I tried Dove products a few years ago when a friend raved about them. I've been using them ever since! :)

For years I have used "just whatever" bodywash was available and in my shower and cheap. I didn't give a rip as long as it smelled decent.
But a few months ago, I purchased a 3-pack of Safeguard with aloe and I LOVE IT dearly. I love the smell, and the softness and cleanliness. I feel, quite frankly, Safe and Guarded.
:-)
Rock on with your soapy self!

I am a body wash vs. soap kind of girl, but I think the kind I use has wash or soap forms. I use Dove go fresh Energize body wash, but they also make Dove go fresh Energize Beauty Bar which you could try (http://www.dove.us/#/Products/BarSoapBodyWash/BB_Energize.aspx/). You should try it out - I think you'll like it and the packaging is not bad either! :) I'm a big fan of those products though and use their Clinical Protection Cool Essentials deodorant too. Happy washing!

I did the same when Bath and Body Works discontinued White Gardenia. GOD I LOVED YOU, WHITE GARDENIA.
Now the important part: Tell me, Jes, are you still reading Anna Karenina? For what, like six years now? :)

Hey, you should also check for the soap at Big Lots. (if you have that store locally) If it has just recently been discontinued they may not have it yet, but I bet they will get it!
