Deep Thoughts, by Chirky

May 02, 2008

Instead of saying, "I'll keep my ears peeled," shouldn't it be, "I'll keep my ears shucked?"

I mean, right?

Hey, you are right. Never thought of that.

2

That was corn-y.

3

Interesting. I'll start spreading the word. It will catch on like wildfire!

4

I thought it was keeping one's eyes peeled? Though I have no idea why anyone is peeling eyes. That's gross.

5

That took me a second! whitty!!

6

Clever thought but kinda corny! :o)

Aren't you mixing your metaphors? I've always heard "Keep your eyes peeled" and "Keep your ears open".

7

You are a dork, but you do make a point.

8

Yes, yes, the saying is about the eyes. But in this instance, a co-worker told me she was going to keep her ears peeled.

Though I'm with Daily Tragedies - keep your eyes peeled? The literal translation makes my skin crawl.

9

Yeah, seriously. Both phrases are equally creepy.

10

I'll keep my eyes dotted and my tees crossed.
