PSA: Texas License Plates Get a Makeover

February 07, 2008

Photobucket

Love the Lone Star State? In January 2009, the Texas license plate will get a makeover, and there's still time for YOU (anyone can vote - not just Texas residents) to vote on the new design.

There are five options to choose from, with images ranging from blue bonnets to the cliffs of Big Bend to a cityscape. (And that cityscape is of Dallas, no less!)

Voting ends at 12 p.m. on Monday, February 11th. CLICK HERE TO HAVE YOUR SAY.

That one's not bad, although my first choice seems to be the general public's second choice. New plates are nice, but they will probably take a while to get used to.

2

That's the one that I picked. I also liked the bluebonnets but I didn't think it would be obvious what the design is. That's why I don't like the current plates, you have to get good and close to figure out it's a space shuttle and an oil derrick. And I don't like the Dallas skyline because almost every state has a city skyline, I don't think it represents TX very well.

I voted for blubonnets. I'm a dork like that.

I like our current plates just fine. Not too obsequiously Texas.

4

An opportunity to vote . . . you know I took advantage of it. AND that was the one I picked (as it seems did the majority of voters).

5

Fun!!!

I totally voted for the one you posted. I dig it!

6

Hey I read in the paper that the plate above won the popular vote and now just needs to be approved by the state legislature.

P.S. How was your weekend?

I didn't know anything about the voting thing until just now, but I would've picked the same one you did. I'm kind of surprised they're even changing it. Texans are kind of huge on tradition.

I bet no one in Austin or especially Houston chose the one with the Dallas skyline!
