In The Mood For A Good Face-Washing

February 21, 2007

I've told you before about my disdain for cockroaches, or at least I've given you creepy facts guaranteed to make your toes curl. Today is no different. I've got another piece of trivia for you, courtesy of my local pest control company newsletter:

"Cockroaches have been known to chew off the eyelashes, eyebrows and toenails of humans."

Question: Would you let a cockroach sit on your face and chew your eyelashes? How was this study done? Was this information discovered during an episode of Fear Factor? Inquiring minds want to know.

Um, ew. Just ew.

The last time I had a scratch test done I was told that I was allergic to the nasty little creatures! That is gross that they put that on my back!

3

GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRGH!

*spit*

*vomit*

That is so disgusting! It's like the trivia that someone told me about how the average person eats XXX number of spiders in their sleep in their lifetime. It's was some awful number like 627 or something. I'm like "I don't eat no spiders in my sleep!!" all picturing waking up and picking a leg out of my teeth. Gross!

Yes, I have a fear of spiders. It's like the elephant-mouse thing: "EEEK!!!!" Spiders in the shower are the worst. Followed by webs with spiders in them spanning a walkway you just went down and then finding the devil on your skirt. "Ack! It's going down my skirt! And now I can't find it! It might have crawled back up the underside of my skirt! Help!" as I jerk around and batt at myself and emit sparks of "Eeek! Ack!" and I'm being watched by bystanders.

5

Eww!

I have nothing else to contribute. Too disgusted right now.

6

Yes, I too am in the mood for a good face-washing - once I stop screaming.

7

I used to work in social work at a community action agency. One of our clients was a quadrapalegic and had issues with cockroaches chewing on vairous body parts. His care taker didn't take good care of him.

8

Oh, now I'm sitting here wondering if THAT'S why my toenails don't seem to grow at the same rate as my fingernails--cockroaches are chewing them off in my sleep! Ewwwww! How'd they get into my house AND into my socks without my knowing it? Ewwwwww!

9

Of course the tasmanian cockroach will spin around and make guttural sounds and eat rabbits.

Or not ... did you let one on your eyelashes to find out?

Oh.my.gosh.

12

Not to be unimaginative, really, but EEEEWWWW!

I mean, why look for something original to say when it's already been said right?

13

They must have some really sharp teeth, Toenails? I just don't see how. Tiny little bites maybe, but I've never seen a cockroach chewing on someone's toenails. That's bizarre. Oh, and yes, disgusting. I'd rather a spider or a snake be in my bed than a cockroach or a grasshopper.

14

This post made me want to wretch. Thanks, Jes!

15

I'd be assuming that unlkess someone was non-mobile as mentioned above, this is forensic kind of stuff. Helps give an idea as to how long someone was laying in one spot. Yum.

16

That is just so wrong. Just think of the stuff they might have tested that the cockroaches didn't like.

17

Eww eww eww, eww eww eww eww!

18

Speaking of cockroaches...I thought of you in this post (you'll know which picture I'm talking about once you see it). :)

19

So gross.
