On Traveling, Procrastinating, and Panties

December 21, 2006

The past two days I've been consumed with one thought: packing. I'm leaving today to visit family in the Carolinas for Christmas, and I have to do things like take clothes.

This shouldn't be that big of a deal.

Except when you're me, and then everything related to packing becomes a big deal. I had all night Tuesday night to prepare for today. I also had all night last night to prepare for today. And I'll let you guess how I spent that time.

I know, okay? I know. You're right. I'm lame.

Tuesday, after dropping Roger off at the airport, I stayed up until 1:30 a.m. playing on the computer and alternating between episodes of Family Guy and Law & Order: Criminal Intent. Where is my sense of responsibility?

To make up for the time I dwindled away on Tuesday night, I went shopping at SuperTarget on Wednesday after work. And then I went to see a movie at the theater. And then I went home and watched the Weather Channel. My life is so exotic.

I finally crawled into bed sometime after midnight last night, having packed far too many pairs of underwear (I'm vying to be hired as Britney Spears' role model) and certainly not enough pairs of shoes.

Speaking of Britney Spears: you may want to take a look at my newest pet project, BritneySpearsWatch.com. It's packed full of her latest escapades, which are at least a tad bit more interesting than the seventeen pairs of panties I'm bringing to North Carolina.

Unless you're my husband, of course, in which case my panties are more interesting.

Definitely an interesting juxtaposition; your panties, which are of interest to your husband (and probably others, should you keep writing about them -- but only sitemeter will tell), and Britney Spears, who until recently had lost her affinity for panties altogether.

Do you need special undergarments for the Carolinas, or just a wide variety?

2

Mike: I don't need special undergarments for the Carolinas. I'm just a little addicted to taking lots of them. Because:

WHAT IF I NEED THEM?
3

How was the movie? Do we get a review?

4

AM: The Holiday was decent. It was a fun romantic comedy, full of sappiness that most girls like.

It didn't have the exact plot as most romantic comedies, which made certain parts a bit unexpected (a good thing).

Cameron Diaz didn't seem believable in the role at the beginning of the movie, but by the end was great - I just mean that some of her lines seemed forced, not natural.

I've never liked Jack Black, but this movie made me LOVE him. L.O.V.E. HIM. He's adorable.

So: I think it was a good movie - maybe one that I would have rathered seen in the dollar theater, but enjoyable nonetheless.

OK. You can never bring too many pairs of underwear. i will actually count mine out and post a total when i get done packing and I can guarantee I will not bring less than 25 pairs for the 12 day trip. Normally, I try to bring about 5 pair per day. That's because every trip with him has taught me I will actually need 2-5 pair of underwear per day. HAHA! TMI!!!!!! (I am all giddy because I thought I lost my pearl earring but i found it, and then I got a hole in my new sweater but I fixed it and so all is well).

You must provide the crucial details. TEMPERATURE! WEATHER! then I can advise you. Go look at my packing list in case you forgot something. Papers for immigration? Check :)

6

I hate packing. I always forget crucial items, such as socks or pajamas, or when I go to my in-laws - alcohol.

7

Panties are more interesting. But dang girl, 17 pair? Do you have bladder issues?

~Jef

8

BLADDER ISSUES? Wha? NO. Most definitely not. I have the same issue that nearly every female has:

A girl needs options.
9

See, that's why guys dig tshirt and jeans girls. Those women go by fabric.

1. Denim
2. Cotton
3. Silk/lycra/commando

And that covers your clothing or unclothing.

Jef: That comment made me laugh out loud. Silk? Do people still wear silk? Is it just me, or do all the other ladies also have the words YEAST INFECTION running amuck in the minds?

Wait. Back peddaling. Not that this has happened to me, because: GROSS. But I've HEARD that silk underthings can cause YIs, and so: No. I just can't do it.

I'll do anything but.

Back peddaling, again. I mean, maybe not EVERYTHING, but you know. Right? You know what I mean?

11

Everything causes YI's. Sugar, stress, lack of foreign policy in Uzbekistan.

~Jef

12

Ummm, well it was explained to me once that picking "silk" goes like this - take it off the hangar and throw it on the floor, if it looks good, buy it.

We're degrading, cats and dogs, masteria!

~Jef

I'm wondering about Mike's comment about "Wide Variety". Mike what are you saying about Jes' panties? Is it about variety or size?

~Jef

14

Also, Mike, the correct answer to Jef's question is: Variety.

Just in case you don't have anyone to tell you the answer, I'm happy to help.

15

Thanks for the review! I purposely checked back here to see if you had posted anything about it, and you did! YEA!

16

Haha. You said panties.

17

I bought 6 more pairs of panties today and 2 bras. Because he has seen all of my previous underwear!! And I have to keep it new and exciting! PS thing to do? Just bring ALL of your underwear except the period underwear (unless you'll need that too), then CARRY IT ON. Because OMG if I lost all of my underwear? I would DIE. Remember me talking about Jordanian panties being disgusting and a lot like cardboard or sandpaper disguised as chiffon? And also ugly?

Do they really still make silk panties? My most expensive pair was a splurge at this store at home (Las Vegas) and they were like $86 plus tax for the PANTIES but they were cute and had embroidered cherries on them. But no silk.
