Thinking: Exercise

July 19, 2006

I've suddenly come to the realization that I'll never lose weight if I don't actually exercise. And since I'm planning on doing a triathlon sometime in the next few months, it seems that exercise would be a key part of my monthly weekly daily life.

So I'm sitting at work, wiggling my legs back-and-forth. How many calories do you think I'll burn?

Oh you are so funny! I don't know how many calories it burns, but if you find out, please let me know! It just may become part of my (non-existent) workout regime!

2?

Oh, Jes, now I have a mental picture of you sitting at your desk doing the Thigh Master.

I'm sure it burns enough calories that you could have another celery stick. ;)

In the SkyMall catalog, they have those little pedals that you can put under your desk so you can "bike" all the livelong day.

Of course, people will wonder why you're breathing heavily and bobbing slightly at your desk, but it's a small price to pay for triathlon training at your workspace!

Lawyerish: Naturally, I had to immediately see for myself. And you're right.

Now. I must buy one.

Oh it was a hard day when I realized that too... So ummm In the spring I also realized my exercise routine would be much more effective if I *actually* did it (and wasn't just thinking about how it was a good routine), and stopped eating chocolate covered yeast donuts.

7

Leg wiggles? Yeah, they burn hundreds, if not thousands, of calories. You'll be trianthalon ready in no time.

8

Try butt clenches. Just don't strain your face when doing them; otherwise, you'll just freak out your coworkers. Hmmm, nevermind, then at least you'd be entertained while clenching and burning calories!

9

I read somewhere if you chew gum regularly (i.e. all the time) that you will burn the caloric equivalent of 10 pounds in a year. Although, I’m not sure that chewing gum will help you train for a triathlon…

10

kinesthetic exercise! burn calories, burn! Hope your training is going well!
