Status: Mouth Gaping
June 14, 2006

Qiao Yubo, who is pregnant with at least five babies, walks with her husband, right, in Songyuan, in China's northeast Jilin province, Sunday, June 11, 2006.
Qiao, who is 1.67 meters (nearly 5'5") tall, has a waistline measurement of 1.75 meters (nearly 5' 7.5"), five months into her pregnancy.
Qiao's excessive bulk is causing difficulties in getting around (you're not kidding), with taxi drivers too afraid to take her in their cars. Her clothing is all custom-made and she eats up to seven meals a day. (AP Photo/EyePress)
UPDATE: It was later announced that this story was a hoax. Qiao's made up the story after suffereing two miscarriages and each day stuffed quilts and blankets inside her clothing.

At least 5? Looks like she's got about 15 in there. That can't be healthy.

Can that be for real? It looks like she has a gigantic pillow shoved up in her dress. I would croak if that happened to me.

Come. ON.
How is she standing up? How does she not just topple right over?
Oh, it hurts. It hurts to look.

This is what I don't understand:
How is it that no one is commenting on the fact that her waist is larger than her body's height??
I mean, her waist is as big around as I am tall.
Oh, Gawwwwwwwwwwwwwsh. I just laid on the floor and demonstrated that for myself. THAT'S BIG.

Sure it is just five babies? She may need a new doc...she's HUGE to be only 5 months!
I too thought she was a he at first and I was waiting for your punchline.

Jes-
That is the first thing I thought of... she is freakin wider than she is tall!
Crazy.
'Em are some BIG babies if she only has five and she is only 5 months along... are they laying on top of each other like a seven layer casserole?
Posted by: ben | June 15, 2006 08:33 AM
Well she is as ROUND as she is tall, not as WIDE as she is tall because that is the distance around her stomach (dorm room for the basketball team she is carrying) in actuality she is only about half as wide as she is tall so it isn't that disturbing
(but still pretty much all around disturbing)

Why is that woman standing? That's crazy! I'd be afraid my stomach would just rip off my body. That's insane! She should be on bedrest!!

Wow. I have never even seen someone look that large even if they're 9-months pregnant with multiples. Seriously, that is just nuts.

as a woman who has had 6 babies (not multiples at the same time - just one at a time) I have been HUGE and have wondered how the hell do women with multiples do it? duuuude - so much sympathy coming from me.
oh yeah and the question on how can you be that big with only 5?
I have been monster size with one at 5 months. Think about placenta, and amniotic fluid for each one. those 2 things add a lot of size to the belly.
