Thinking: Diets

May 02, 2006

Do diet pills actually work? Or do you just lose weight because you can't eat as much when your tummy is full of water because you have to take a pill before each meal?

My friend has taken diet pills for a couple years, and I haven't noticed 1 pound of difference... Don't know if it's true for everyone though.

Most diet pills contain 3 things, a diuretic - to make you pee and therefore lose water weight, an appetite suppresant - so you eat less, and a stimulant - so you supposedly burn more calories.

Dexatrim was so popular in the 80's because it was straight speed. You burned through the calories, no problem. Nowadays, it's mostly caffeine and a multitude of "natural" stimulants.

And yes, that drink a whole glass of water with eat pill fills you up so you don't eat as much as well.

I've tried every one of them. They make you full because of the water, then hyper so you can exercise. I just suggest drinking alot of Diet Rockstar. It'll get the same job done for a lot less out of your wallet.

jes DON'T start taking diet pills

not doing it - that's why it's titled, "thinking" and not "doing"

While living in Nashville, I suffered from low blood pressure issues. The doctor diagnosed me with orthostatic hypotension, and prescribed Dexatrim to raise my blood pressure. Without changing my diet a bit and without doing any extra exercise, I lost ten pounds on the Dexatrim. I think it was a fluke, but a ten pound fluke is better than no fluke at all, right?

By the way, yes. That WAS my stomach pictured at my site. Sliced and stretched. Enjoy your dinner.

They work...you just have to find the right combination for you. For most people though, it is better to change your diet and exercise.
