I am much more of a nerd than you thought.

June 09, 2005

I am attempting to become more web savvy. Eddo, the one who first got me
interested in blogs, is trying to help. Last Saturday he loaned me some software
to play around with. Actually, he said this, "Here, Jes. See if you can use this
to fix your blog."

AS IF all I needed to do was download the software, import my code, and FIX IT.

I decided to make Bianca my guinea pig, since I am working on a redesign for her
site. At the pace I'm going, it won't be up for another year. I have spent
several hours trying to teach myself Dreamweaver, and last night I discovered
that trial and error and clicking random buttons really wasn't helping.
Frustrated, I gave up and threw the computer down the stairs.

Roger happened to be standing at the base of the stairs, and was able to catch
the computer before anything was damaged. He gallantly carried it into our
study, hooked it back up, and told me that I was banned from ever using it
again.

In an effort to calm me, Roger decided that he would take me on a special date
of running errands. First, we stopped at Blockbuster to find out our balance on
a Blockbuster gift card. Please note that I am not endorsing Blockbuster, and
that I prefer PREMIERE VIDEO. But, if someone is going to give me free money to
spend at a certain store, I will spend it.

Second, Roger took me to Central Market. Low and behold, I ran into Jennifer,
and her identical twin sister Rachel! I knew which one was Jennifer though,
because she was wearing an SMU Law shirt. Plus, she looks different enough from
Rachel that I never questioned which one was which. I'm smart like that.

Roger took me to the floral section of CM and told me to pick out whichever
flowers I wanted. He knew I needed something to make me feel special, and not
stupid like DreamWeaver makes me feel, and flowers were just the thing. I chose
to get a single flower:

Our last errand was a "surprise." Roger drove the long way to get there, just to
throw me off. We went on a date to Half Price Books, where he bought me a book
to TEACH me to use DreamWeaver. My sweetie, he's so smart!

I love that he wants to support my love for websites and my desire to learn how
to code them.

Next, I will be a superior webdesigner, surpassing even Eddo! Roger will design
the sites and I will code them. We will be a dynamic duo, featured on Good
Morning, America and The Today Show.

I'll give autographs upon request.
