BMan and BMan1, You're Dead To Me
April 18, 2005
In the first half hour of my arrival at work, I follow a simple routine: log in to my computer, check my personal email, check my work email, read a couple of blogs, start work. Sometimes I even read blogs while simultaneously working. I can multi-task like that.
However, this morning my routine was thrown into chaos, rendering my morning useless. I was at the "read a couple of blogs" stage of my morning, checking out a new read of mine. While scrolling down through the page, I accidentally clicked in the mango-colored margin. Thinking nothing of my random click, I continued reading.
Suddenly a new, smaller screen popped up. And then another. And then two more. Before I knew what was happening, six pop-ups had infiltrated my computer. Each time I tried to close the ad, two more would replace it.
Being my computer-savvy self, I immediately closed all windows and opened my control panel. I deleted all software programs that looked like adware, and went on my merry way. I never got to the "start work" portion of my morning routine, though, because the ad programs had hidden themselves on my system, and pop-ups were still appearing even when no Internet window was running.
I'll have you know that I finally got it resolved, but I won't be visiting that new blog anymore.
